Altered Photographs
Computer Evolved Multi-medium Art
Cecil Lee is a native New Yorker who
has emerged as one
of most varied, accomplished and prolific computer artist in the New
York. He is a self-taught visual artist who began drawing in his late teens
and later became an accomplished photographer in his twenty's,
no doubt influenced by his father Cecil
Lee Sr. who was an amateur photographer. Between father and son they have
portrayed photographically over fifty years of 20th century Harlem.
Purchasing his first
computer in 1985 Cecil has matured as a computer artist and web
designer*
by being an active participant of the
computer revolution. Without formal training Cecil has developed his
ability naturally, learning techniques through trial and error. His
painstaking attention to detail and bold, bright colors are trademarks
of his work. Add to that his use of
African/Haitian/Aborigine influences
and hi-tech techniques and one has a unique blend which will surely be
a defining factor in distinguishing the 21st Century Artist.
The term Computer Evolved Art
(combining art from scanned images with art created with a computer graphic program to form a new and unique work of art)
is a result of my
love of painting, photography and computers.
Computer Evolved Art
and
Computer Evolved
Photography
are a result of using paintings and photographs as a foundation to create new and unique images.
Printed
with
archival
inks on canvas or
watercolor paper
the

When
developing my CEMA I strive to allow my subconscious to determine my
directions. Using the computer for what it is, a tool which can change
its surface, texture, width, transparency and dimension, I always
search for the unused shapes, textures, colors which are embedded in
our subconscious. I believe that through art they can be brought to
the surface resulting in a more intense, more radiant reality than we
commonly share.
